Pre-Reflection

Last week we went to the Salvation Army headquarters and met Major Boynton. This was very helpful in helping us (or at least me) understand what the Salvation Army wants us to accomplish this semester.

We realized that the building has quite a few rooms that are not being used right now, and that the Salvation Army would be interested in programs that involve more than one generation of people in need. In other words, a program that involves both teens and elderly people would be ideal. For now, we need to research welfare reform and youth violence prevention  programs that have been used in areas of the United States similar to Canton, and figure out how to tweak those programs to make them right for our area.

This might be a busy semester, but I am confident that at the end, we will feel a sense of accomplishment knowing that we positively impacted the Salvation Army and helped them to "do the most good."

  1. I agree; a better organized Salvation Army may really help them. They could then focus on their various programs and community outreach.
